A power ballad of epic proportions from a man of not so epic proportions. He’s come up for a lot of flak over the years but Phil Collins has made some pretty top tunes and this isn’t too shabby, if you like that sort of thing. Has anyone actually seen Against The Odds? The song stood the test of time a bit better than that one, eh?

Group: Pretty Mary Sunshine
Songs A: Jessica
Songs B: Can I stay?
Label: Spontaneous Underground Recordings
Year: 1994

Additional Info: Yes, there is a hole on the upper part of this record. It’s so badly recorded that in college we used it as a ceiling hanging decoration

The debut EP from At The Gates reissued for RSD 2015 on brown marbled vinyl by Century Media. Originally released back in 1991 and still sounding pretty decent this was the start of a very impressive but short career.

A project led by ex-Field Music bassist Ian Black, welcome to the slightly odd world of Slug . The unmistakeable Brewis brothers sound is still there while the songs contain a great mix of catchy hooks, haunting harmonies as well as plenty of weird time changes and off kilter bits and bobs. Another fine Memphis Industries release.
